The Fox Theatre
Setting the stage for theatrical entertainment in St. Louis is the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Grand Center, the city’s most famous venue for catching Broadway productions. The 2008-2009 U.S. Bank Broadway season opens in October with “The Color Purple,” and other performances throughout the season include “Cats” and “Sweeney Todd.” In addition to its notable Broadway shows, the Fox hosts a variety of performances by popular, touring musicians and comedians from all over. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis
The Repertory Theatre is considered the city’s leading live, professional theatre, and plays an important role in the cultural life of St. Louis. Located on the campus of Webster University, the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts is home to The Rep’s Mainstage and Studio Theatre productions. Opera Theatre
Brilliant singers perform a variety of artistic productions in English at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, where opera can appeal to everyone. With its intimate and inviting atmosphere, guests of Opera Theatre enjoy mingling with its artists after the show in a large tent on the lawn, among the beautiful surrounding gardens. The Muny
The Muny in Forest Park exudes St. Louis charm each summer season, and stands as the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor theatre. Catch a classic Broadway production and spend some time under the stars at this cornerstone of the city. Black Repertory Theatre Company
The Black Repertory Theatre Company enhances social and cultural awareness of its audiences by presenting an African-American perspective through creative forms like theatre and dance. The Black Rep prides itself on being the largest, professional African-American theatre company in the nation. Its season runs from January to June, and performances are held at the Grandel Theatre. Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra
Powell Symphony Hall is home to the six-time Grammy Award-winning Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, whose musicians have inspired the city for almost 130 years. Concerts vary throughout the year, ranging from elegant, classical performances in the evening to fun-filled family shows on Sunday afternoons. Six Flags St. Louis
You can find plenty of warm-weather fun and thrills for the whole family at Six Flags St. Louis, an expansive theme park that boasts nearly 40 rides, including 22 kids’ rides. After a day filled with excitement, you can settle down for one of the theme park’s many special events, like an outdoor concert by a popular musician. Six Flags’ water park, Hurricane Harbor, is an excellent way to cool off on a hot, summer day, and entrance is free with every general admission ticket to the park. The Saint Louis Zoo
With its esteemed reputation, impressive size and free admission, it’s no wonder that the Saint Louis Zoo in Forest Park is one of the city’s most popular attractions.
